Knukonceptz Kolossus Complete 4 Gauge OFC Amplifier Installation Kit

KnuKonceptz Kolossus amp installation kit’s feature our top of the line Kolossus Fleks power and ground cables. Made up of ultra flexible pvc and ultra fine tinned strands of oxygen free copper (OFC), the Kolossus Kable is the standard for which all others are compared to. The KOL-AK4 amp kit provides 18 feet of blue marine grade, full copper battery power wire and 3 feet of translucent black (smoke) ground wire. The KnuKonceptz FH-44 fuse holder with a 120A Mini ANL fuse is provided within the KOL-AK4 amp install kit, but can be upgraded to a maximum of 150A Mini ANL fuse (sold separately MANL-150). The fuse holder does not come installed within the cable, this allows the installer to place the inline fuse holder in an optimum location during installation. It also allows the installer to extend the power wire 1-3′ by using the inline fuse holder to add cable to the main run (leaving the 18′ as one unit and using the FH-44 to “splice” a few feet of wire)

Signal for your 2 channel amplifier installation kit is carried by the Klarity Kable 5 Meter (16.25′) RCA Cable. The Klarity RCA Cable is a copper braid shielded coaxial RCA that uses a Hybrid metal/molded RCA termination with strain relief for a durable, low loss connection to your head unit and amplifier. A separate remote turn on lead is included. This wire is connected to your radio’s power antenna lead or amp turn on lead (refer to your head unit’s manual) Your amplifier’s output is sent through KnuKonceptz Kord 12 gauge speaker wire, 20 feet of 12 gauge blue speaker wire is included with the kit.

Kolossus Fleks 4 Gauge Spec:

Overview –Kolossus Flex Power / Ground Wire consists of oversized, fine stranded, tinned Oxygen Free Copper (99.99%) conductors. By design, we increased the surface area of our cables to allow for higher current loads. Applications include marine and mobile audio. The Flex Kable features an ultra flex matte PVC jacket that makes it bend to any radius and stable in temperatures from -40C to 105C. Colors available include Black, Blue, and Red.

Notes –While our Kolossus Flex Kable is oversized, most manufacture’s terminals will still fit our cables. The tinned OFC will resist oxidation thus making the cable suitable for marine or any high moisture applications.

Q: How many watts can this amp kit handle?

A: At KnuKonceptz, we do not use “watts” to rate our amp kits. This is a very inaccurate method to determine what the proper gauge wire required for your amp installation. There are many amp manufactures and not all of them represent the output of their product accurately. Please refer to your amplifier’s fuse rating, this is a number a manufacture can not fake, well they could but it would put their product in harms way! Add up the fuses on the end of both of your amp (ex Amp A has three 20A fuses = 60A draw; Amp B has two 30A fuse = 60A Draw; 120A system total draw) If this number is under 150A, this kit will fit your application.

Q: How do I determine what size fuses I need for the inline fuse holder?

A: Using the information from the answer above, the example system draw totals 120A therefore a 150A fuse is the minimum required and the safest option for the inline fuse holder

Q: Can I alter this kit in any way before purchasing?

A: Our amp kits are made in large batches to reduce cost, which is passed onto you. We can not alter them in any way. Should you need to make alterations, you would have to purchase the items individually from our shopping cart.

Q: I need a longer power wire, what can I do?

A: The fuse holder does not come installed within the kit’s cable.This allows the installer to place the inline fuse holder in an optimum location during installation. Q: Why should I upgrade the car’s factory battery to chassis ground under the hood?

A: Your vehicle’s wiring was engineered to work with the factory electrical load. By adding a massive current drawing load requiring a heavy 0 gauge power wire, you also need to upgrade the vehicle’s ground wire. This kit includes the appropriate parts to complete this upgrade. The 5′ section of ground should be cut one time (to make two sections). These do not need to be even length, but rather cut to fit your installation’s need. You may only need 18″ to connect the battery to your vehicles chassis. The remaining 0 gauge ground wire is then used to connect the audio amplifier to your car’s chassis.

Wire gauge is crucial to powering your system correctly. Undersized cable will create unsafe conditions and may shorten your amplifier’s life.
Max Load (amps)
Wire’s ampacity changes with gauge and materials. KnuKonceptz does not rate cable based on watts. Amplifier manufactures do not always truthfully state the output of their product, check your on board fuses!

True American Wire Gauge (AWG) Products

Using American Wire Gauge standards, the gauge of stranded wire is determined by the total area of the conductor.
To calculate this you would take the area of each strand and add it together. This area, in square mm, then determines gauge.
Diameter is not as critical with stranded wire, this is due to the tiny air gaps between each strand. Diameter may fluctuate with strand size and how tightly wound the rope of the cable is.
The smaller the number, the larger the wire, until you reach zero or aught (0). From zero, you then have double aught (00 or 2/0), three aught (000 or 3/0) …
Based on AWG, the true gauge of this cable is 0 Gauge

Tinned Copper – What the Pros Recommend

When bare copper is exposed to oxygen, it oxidizes over time (turns brown/green).
These contaminants are damaging to the cable’s ability to conduct electricity.
Tin provides a protective barrier from oxygen to the bare copper underneath.
By adding a thin layer of tin to each strand, the cable is no longer able to oxidize.
Tin does not react with oxygen and therefore the cable will never change color or have any change in its ability to conduct electricity
